Philip Meiser - The Local Hero

Friday, Dec 30, 2022 in Pro Cycling

The iconic mountain biker from Saarland is starting his first professional season on the road with BIKE AID.

It is certainly an unusual step to sign a 30-year-old MTB rider. "However, we believe that Philip absolutely has what it takes to support the team." Says Matthias Schnapka. With Philip, a local hero comes on board who will represent the Saarland in 2023. For the last 16 years, he has remained loyal to his club, RV Tempo Hirzweiler. A club that is doing great work with young MTB riders for many years and also organises a fantastic race.

World Championship experience

Philip has shown his class at national and international MTB marathons in the past. He competed in UCI World Series races as well as the Marathon World Championships in 2016 and 2019, and took multiple podium finishes in European stage races. This year, he stood on the podium in both marathon and cross country at the German Championships. But Philip also proved that he can take his power and skills to the road. In addition to wins and some great finishes in regional road races, he came in a strong seventh place at this year's German Climbing Championships.

New challenges

"The idea of helping a teammate achieve results through my own performance and being successful as a team as a collective is very appealing to me. I'm also excited by the idea and concept behind BIKE AID and the places BIKE AID races." Says Philip Meiser, who is looking forward to developing both his sporting and personal skills.
