Turkey was and is so far a popular destination for the BIKE AID team and we have been guests at many races in Turkey yet. Not at least because of the successful participation in the Tour of Antalya, the overall victory of the Tour of Mersin in 2019 or Justin Wolf's first win of the season in 2021 at the Tour of Mevlana.
In spring 2020 we were able to present our first German-Turkish partnership with Corendon Airlines before Corona turned a lot upside down. It is now even more exciting that our partner Corendon Airlines is expanding its network to with Saarbrücken Airport.
From Saarbrücken Airport, there are now flights to Antalya twice a week and flights to Heraklion on Crete once a week. In addition, other travel destinations such as Hurghada and the Canaries are to be added. Corendon Airlines is now also connecting our home Saarland with great tourist destinations such as Antalya in Turkey, where there is also a lot to offer for active holidays with mountain bikes or road bikes.
On July 2nd, a big welcome ceremony took place at Saarbrücken Airport, at which BIKE AID was also guest and welcomed the first plane from Corendon Airlines. "We are pleased that our partner Corendon Airlines is now also offering flights from our home. The destinations are of course great, especially for us as cyclists," said Timo Schäfer, one of the two team managers.
Corendon Airlines transports annually around 4 million passengers with 24 Boeing 737-800 aircrafts. The planes offer 189 seats. Not only tourist destinations are served from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The airline is also known for its ethnic destinations. Corendon Hotels & Resort operates two all-inclusive hotels near Antalya. The Grand Park Lara has 896 rooms, the Grand Park Kemer has 305 rooms. Corendon Airlines flights can be booked at all well-known tour operators, in travel agencies and via corendonairlines.com.
