An Post Ras and Velothon Wales – a short race preview

Saturday, May 21, 2016 in Pro Cycling

This weekend is very British for team Stradalli – BIKE AID. All vehicles made their way up to the north to Ireland and Wales. From tomorrow on, one part of the team will start at the An Post Ras (2.2) in Ireland while the other part is doing the Velothon Wales Prorace (1.1) in Cardiff.

The An Post Ras is the Tour of Ireland and represents one of the most prestigious sport events in the whole country. It is a 8 day stage race, that leads through the whole Island and shows the beauty of the latter to the people and also to the riders. “The Ràs” is a spectacular event to all people there and everybody is celebrating the Ràs when it comes to their town. The riders from Stradalli – BIKE AID will experience a unique island with its beautiful sceneries but also a tough race with steep climbs up to 25 % in the south of Ireland. The squad for An Post Ras: Nikodemus Holler, Joschka Beck, Janvier Hadi, Patrick Lechner and Damien Garcia.

The Velothon Wales represents a large and unique sports festival in Welsh capital Cardiff. Almost 14.000 enthusiastic cyclist doing the same route than the Pros will do afterwards at this 1.1 ranked UCI one-day race. 175 tough and hilly kilometers will make it a hard day of work for our riders Daniel Bichlmann, Timo Schäfer, Dominik Merseburg and Matthias Schnapka. Especially the “tumble-loop” with a climb of 6,5 Kilometers has to be done 2 times and will be for sure a decisive part of the race.

It is a pity that due to difficult visa situation the team can only be present at such a great race with 4 riders, as it is very hard to get the needed Visa for the African riders this year. And due to the fact that UK is not in the Schengen area, it makes it even harder.

We wish all the riders and staff  members good luck and a great time!
